Mark’s story

Living well means having peace of mind about the future.

Mark’s 60th birthday was fast approaching and he was excited to start moving into the retirement phase of his life. But Mark knew how important it was to make sure he had the income he needed to enjoy those retirement years.

He was also eligible for a compensation payment and didn’t want to do the wrong thing. "I knew I needed help to see what options were available for my financial security and lifestyle.”

Mark was concerned about how to navigate Centrelink and how the lump sum would impact his other government benefits. He wanted to make sure that he was making the right choices to maximise his income in retirement. “It was very unclear to me, I wasn’t aware of the rules or what choices I had.”

Mark approached our Retirement Planning Expert at Live Well - John Blyth - for help navigating the next steps of his retirement planning.

John first chatted with Mark about his goals and plans for retirement. He then took Mark through his options including how much income he would need in retirement, the impact any income would have on his Disability Support Pension as well as a personalised investment strategy.

“John’s advice and assistance soon sorted through the questions I had. His advice achieved a better outcome I had once envisaged. I could see that John would be able to help me achieve my goal of living my retirement with financial stability and security.”

Mark has now been able to purchase a new home and secure an ongoing income from his investments during his retirement. This means less stress for Mark when thinking about the future. “The financial advice and plan provided to me by John have set me up for a more secure retirement. It was great to have worked with such a professional adviser who listened and planned with me rather than for me.”
